Digital Film tools has released version 3.5.7 of its Light! filter set that enables you to add light to images that didn't have light to begin with, or light that needs to be enhanced. GAMProducts has provided 567 different patterns of light (lighting gels) to further enhance your imaging. These patterns are normally used in front of lights during a photo shoot but have been recreated digitally so users can apply them to their images.
Lighting gels or colored filters have been used for decades in front of cameras to achieve certain effects on images. You can apply the gels to your digital images and further tweak them from within the filter.
When you launch Light! from the plug-ins menu in Photoshop, the DFT Light! window opens, which offers several tools in which you can enhance your image. Within the window you'll see a small box located in the center of the image. This box is the directional box in which you can position the light source on the image. Move it around and any light should illuminate.
The plug-in has four buttons in which you can make adjustments to your image: Light, which includes sliders to adjust the brightness, displacement, horizontal blur, vertical blur (or you can gang blur the image), and GamColor presets, which offers up a whole host of different color schemes, ranging from 101 lavender blue and 103 Blue Rose, to 987 wild plum and 995 orchid and everything in between; Selection, which offers the capability to tweak position, range and blur, as well as specifically extract colors as well as hue, saturation, and average; Shadow, which enables you to adjust any shadows that might be in the image; and Shape, which is by far the most versatile button. Shape enables you to access the GAMproducts light patterns and apply them to your image. You can then further adjust the light pattern's blend mode as well as opacity, horizontal, and vertical blur, and you can position the light pattern's x and y scale as well as rotate it. All of this tweaking can help you to build a library of presets. You can save them and name them and file them for future use.
If you are working with images that need extra light, DFT's Light! has a lot of functionality to help create your own specific light effects thanks to the different patterns from GAMProducts. The Light! filter itself enables you to adjust existing light within an image, without affecting the other non-lit portions of the image.
